Friday was a great walk for many reasons. It started with the pickups.
Nothing beats the sight of Bailey eagerly waiting in the front window for pick up. His tail starts wagging when he sees me. Then he gets in the truck without hesitation and goes ALL the way to the back so he can sit by his buddy Logan. He’s quite insistent actually. Quite the change from a dog who wasn’t so sure about the truck the first time we met.
It’s pretty awesome.
We started our hike at Millstream Park. We’ve had a lot of snow over the last few days. I was curious about the condition of the trails. We’re often the first ones on a trail. Our pack consisted of Pippa the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon, Bailey the Golden Retriever and Goldendoodles Beckem and Logan. They all love the snow so I knew we could do a bit of exploring.
It’s become a bit of a tradition for Bailey to chase Logan around at the beginning of the walk. They had their romp as we started up one of our usual trails. It’s been fun to watch this doggy friendship develop. Bailey’s a bit older so it’s neat to see the puppy come out as he plays with Logan. Logan is our goofy loveball who is just pumped to have a dog around who doesn’t mind being constantly adored with kisses.
We headed up the mountain to see how far we could go in the newly fallen snow. The answer was not very far. We made it to powerline trail (our usual halfway mark in terms of elevation). I broke trail for a little bit, in part to show the dogs it was easier if they followed me, but eventually we relented to the snow and headed back down the trail.
We couldn’t hike UP the mountain as far as we usually could. But we were able to hike along the mountain further than we usually do. There looks to be some promising trails…
All in all we had a great hike. Happy Holidays!
