On Thursday September 10 we welcomed Rosie the Duck Toller to our pack. Her first pack included Lily the Husky / Lab mix, Bogie the Golden Retriever and Winston the Aussiedoodle. It was also our first walk after 2 weeks away. While the break was lovely, I missed hiking with the pups and it was good to get back on the trails.
The dogs were happy to get out hiking. Lily was really eager to play with Rosie, but she seemed to understand that Rosie needed a little time to see what this adventuring is all about. Bogie is another mellow buddy. He likes to explore every nook and cranny, play the odd game of chase and will tolerate the odd ear nibble from Winston. Winston is our loveable doof-a-doodle. He’s getting much better at avoiding nibbling on his packmates ears, though still have to give him leash time to refocus.
Rosie did very well for her first adventure. It can be a little scary with all of this energy bounding around her. We could see her confidence grow as the walk went on. We dropped the leash for the last part of the walk and we got to see a glimpse of how much she’ll enjoy the walks once she’s completely comfortable. She would come when called and made sure to get her share of snuggles. We’re thrilled to have her a part of our pack.
It was a great return to the trails.
