On Thursday April 9, we had a sunny day and an eager pack of dogs. Our pack included Nyssa the Husky / Malamute mix, Petey the American Bulldog, Drift the Border Collie, Bogie the Golden Retriever, Winston the Aussiedoodle and Brando the German Shepherd.
Petey and Winston spent most of the walk on leash. Petey can be a bit unpredictable with strangers while Winston can get too excited and doesn’t want to listen to his pack leader. Winston is slowly getting more focused, but there can be a lot of excitement when Brando, Drift and Bogie all want to play. The difference is they will “chill” when I ask them to and bring the energy down a notch. Once Winston learns that he’ll run with the rest of them.
There was a lot of running around. And a lot of digging. The dirt must smell great to the dogs this time of year. I made sure to fill in the holes to minimize our impact on the trails. The dogs had a great time digging them up behind me! We had a great hike and took full advantage of the day.
