On Thursday March 17 we had a full pack of dogs and a lovely sunny day. Our pack consisted of Rosie the Duck Toller, Nyssa the Husky / Malamute, Karma the Desi Dog, Winston the Aussidoodle, Brando the German Shepherd and Petey the American Bulldog.
It has been a while since Brando has hiked with Winston. Brando finds Winston fascinating, a little too much. When Winston is around Brando has eyes for no one else. He’s not aggressive but likes to follow Winston and stand in his way. Winston isn’t sure what to do with all of this attention so he tries to get our shiest dogs Karma and Rosie to play with him. Only he’s a little intense for Rosie and Karma, so they freeze until he leaves them alone. Which can take a little bit of time. So in order to keep the whole group moving we had Brando, Winston and Petey all on leash. That way I could give Winston a bit of space from Brando if he needed it and Karma and Rosie were comfortable enough to roam free. It was a bit of work but we all enjoyed a mellow hike as a result.
Winton knows Nyssa doesn’t like to play so she was pretty unaffected by all the antics. She happily explored the forest with her mellow ladies; Karma and Rosie. Petey was on leash with me as usual. He seemed to like the extra company with Brando and Winston.
All in all it was a lovely hike, though a little tough to take as much footage as usual.
