On Friday July 17, we had a full pack and yet another sunny day. We headed to Millstream Park to hit one of the few trails where we could still find some shade and water. Our pack for the day included Beckem and Logan the Goldendoodles, Petey the American Bulldog, Kili the German Shepherd, Wilbur the Border Collie and Tobey the Labradoodle.
Once off leash the dogs immediately started to play chase. I think the only dog who didn’t join in was Tobey. He prefers to watch and sneak in cuddles with me. Round and round they go, taking turns being chased and the odd breather. Though Wilbur always seems to be in the midst of it. He was extra tired last week so we gave him a bit of leash time this time around. He loves playing so much we need to remind him to take a bit of a break every now and then.
We spent some extra time at our water breaks. All that running around and warm weather means it’s important to really let the dogs cool down. Kili is really settling into the group. He’s getting really playful with the other dogs which is fun to see. Petey was up front exploring, he’s getting really good at waiting when I call him. Logan is always eager to play with the other dogs, though he’s also been settling into a relaxed pace. Beckem wasn’t feeling well earlier in the week. Though he seemed to be back to his normal easy going self this walk. Tobey did his usual duty of making sure everyone was together. He also made sure to get some extra pats from me.
All in all it was a great hike!
