On Thursday October 1 we had a big pack of dogs. There was Nyssa the Husky / Malamute, Koda the Bernese Mountain Dog, Brando the German Shepherd, Petey the American Bulldog, Winston the Aussiedoodle and little Rosie the Duck Toller. We headed to Ballentree Park to enjoy our hike.
Little Rosie was the smallest dog in the pack. Though she didn’t let that intimidate her. She was off exploring with the best of them. I think Petey or Nyssa was the next smallest dog! Rosie keeps getting more confidence with each walk we do.
There’s always a bit of excitement at the beginning of the hike as everyone is happy to go explore. Brando and Winston usually spend the first bit of the walk on leash as they settle into the routine. Brando loves Winston so much that even when he was allowed off leash, he stuck right next to Winston. They’re doing much better at being around one another without getting over excited, but there is still some work to do. When we first started walking with Brando he wasn’t sure about us. But now he can’t wait to get loaded into the truck. It’s pretty fun to see.
It’s been a while since we’ve seen Koda. He was really excited to be out with us. He alternated between sticking close to me for extra snuggles and exploring the forest. Nyssa wandered through the forest at a steady pace. Though every once in a while she takes some time to examine something neat she’s found. I don’t know what it is, but there are a few spots she likes to check out regularly. Petey was up front exploring and burning off steam. I want to put a GPS on him one day to see how much ground he covers.
All in all we had a really great hike.
