Play to Keep The Bears Away

On Friday May 1, 2015 we had an energetic pack that consisted of Logan the Goldendoodle, Petey the American Bulldog, Wilbur the Border Collie and Tobey the Labradoodle. We headed to one of our favourite trailheads, Ballentree Park, to enjoy the day.

Petey is still getting used to his muzzle, but he’s rubbing it less and is having way to much fun chasing his buddies around. And play chase they did! Logan, Wilbur and Petey ran many circles around me. Tobey would go off and explore with the other dogs, but once they started to run circles he would come hang out with me.

On our way back to the truck we came across another dogwalker who let us know they had spotted a bear on the trail 10 min earlier. Unfortunately it was the trail we needed to use to get back to the truck! To be on the safe side, we leashed everyone up and had the bear spray handy. I didn’t expect to see him though as we’re a noisy group (yay bear bells). I was right, and we made it back safely to the truck without spotting our bearish friend. It was a nice reminder of how close nature is to the city!
