On Friday August 22 we had a mid sized pack and a gorgeous day. Our pack included Wilbur the Border Collie – Flatcoat mix, Kili the German Shepherd, Tobey the Labradoodle and Petey the American Bulldog.
Last week Wilbur and Kili had a bit of a tussle. Kili has gotten much more comfortable in the group and really wants to play with other members of the pack. But sometimes this play included nipping, which Wilbur doesn’t like at all. We kept Kili on leash this walk to correct when he would go to nip. By the end of the walk he was much better at listening to “leave it” and “gentle”. Other than the occasional attempted nip Kili and Wilbur walked really well together.
Petey was full of beans and happy to run up and down the mountainside. Tobey would run between me and the other dogs. It’s amazing how much energy he has sometimes. We really kept this group moving to burn off as much energy as we could. Shorter water breaks (after they’d had their fill to drink) and a few more laps uphill. They were tuckered by the time we got back to the truck.
All in all a successful hike.
