No Tug

On Thursday our pack consisted of Winston the Aussiedoodle, Petey the American Bulldog, Nyssa the Husky / Malamute, Drift the Border Collie and Bogie the Golden Retriever. The pack was full of energy as we headed to Ballentree Park.

Petey decided that he had enough of being on leash. He started a new ‘game’ of tug. Where he grabs the leash and pulls on it. Now Petey is a big dog and I also had Winston attached to me. So this new game was a bit of a problem. To prevent Petey from grabbing the leash we put his muzzle on for a bit. Took it off when it started to bug him, then put it back on when he started to grab the leash. I’ve been reluctant to use the muzzle until his nose fully heals, so we’re just buying some time until he can wear the muzzle for longer periods of time. We’re getting there!

Winston enjoyed having Petey nearby, the two of them like to bump up against each other as we walk along. I’m working on giving Winston lots of positive reinforcement when he ignores the dogs around him and continues walking with me. It’s a tough task for such an aggressively social guy!

Nyssa, Bogie and Drift had a great time chasing each other through the forest. They had a lot of fun!
