Wow what a first walk for our new pack member Nila!
Nila is a Desi dog rescued from India. We’re excited to have her with us. Pippa and Lola made great ambassadors for the hike. They quickly bonded and welcomed her into the pack. Nila and Lola would play whenever I stopped to take off a layer, pour some water etc (essentially whenever my hands were busy). So while I didn’t catch a lot of it on film, they had a great time chasing each other. As it was Nila’s first time out with us, she was on leash. Pippa also needed some leash time today for a couple of reasons.
- Lucky girl has 3 walks with us this week! But Pippa doesn’t know that yet. The leash stops her from doing quite so many laps.
- I spotted signs of bears. Poop and half eaten pinecone: it was a BIG pinecone. I didn’t want Pippa to flush out a bear today (See the pictures via the GPS player)
It was a good reminder that it is bear season. We made sure to make lots of noise as we were walking through the woods. Just to let Mr Bear know that we were coming through and didn’t want to harm him. Don’t worry I kept my singing off the video
Other than the signs of bears, we had a great hike. Nila is looking forward to getting her offleash privileges and exploring with the other dogs. We’re excited to see her run in the woods!
Lola was tuckered after her walk. She was leaning against the wheel-well of the truck. I thought it was pretty cute. See more photos via the GPS player! Look for Pippa’s
“Forest Face” shot.
