On Thursday August 6 we had a full pack of dogs and a misty /rainy day. Our pack included Nyssa the Husky / Malamute, Karma the Desi Dog, Petey the American Bulldog, Bogie the Golden Retriever, Brando the German Shepherd and Winston the Aussiedoodle.
The day was grey and dreary, but the pack was not. Winston and Brando kept me busy for the first part of the walk. Both were full of energy as Brando tried to chase Winston, and Winston tried to chase the rest of the pack. Both “forgetting” they were attached to me. After a bit of a hike uphill they settled into the walk a little more and I was able to drop the leash. They keep getting better at “leaving it” when asked, but every once in a while the excitement gets to be to much and we need to go back on leash. It’s slow but steady progress.
We can always count on the dogs taking a quick break at the watering holes. Even when it’s relatively grey out. Nyssa, Bogie and Karma explored at a pretty easy pace. Wandering here and there with big doggy grins on their faces. Petey was up front, leading the charge. He keeps getting better at greeting new people, less excited, more inquisitive. It’s great to see.
It was a grey day but a great hike!
