The rain has returned with a vengeance to Vancouver. Oddly enough, it was one of those days where I love my job.
The rain has some real benefits for hiking with the dogs. There is plenty to drink, and we don’t have to worry about overheating. So we really can go wherever we want, being mindful that all the waterways are at high levels.
Nila pointed out a trail we hadn’t been on before. As we walked along we spotted remnants of Vancouver’s logging past. Vancouver’s North Shore is an interesting spot to hike in that it is so close to the city. You often run into remnants of it’s past. The most obvious is the large stumps. But every once in a while, like today, you find a piece of some heavy machinery and get to guess what it was.
I’m guessing it was part of a train, but would be interested if anyone knows more.
The dogs had an awesome time. Bailey was running around like a puppy. Stella swam, rolled in dirt and RAN! Sally was so happy that she was literally bouncing. Nila and Millie took turns running ahead or walking behind me. We also had Tobey the Labradoodle visiting us. He’s a friend of Sally’s. I think he had a great time.
We were a soggy mess by the time we were done.
Like I said, one of those days I love my job.
