Wednesday, unlike Monday, was not sunny. Our muddy pack of adventurers included Beckem and Logan the Goldendoodles, Winston the Yellow Labrador Retriever, Nila the Desi Dog and Pippa the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon.
As I mentioned earlier, Wednesday was not sunny. Quite rainy in fact. Luckily dogs don’t melt in the rain so we headed off into the woods with eager anticipation. The combination of rain and the warming of spring created an eerie and magical fog in the forest.
Winston is settling nicely into his walks, he and Logan are the best of friends. Logan loves to play chase and stick with his equally energetic friend Winston. They’re starting to get that it’s ok to play stick as long as they don’t whack the other members of the pack with their stick or bodies. It’s just bad manners. They needed a couple of breaks on lease, but the biggest challenge of the walk was keeping the camera lens free of fog and rain. I swear half of the footage was of me cleaning the camera lens.
The other half seemed to be of Nila walking on long logs. She’s a very fast, delicate and agile dog. She’s obviously pleased with her ability to walk on a variety of logs (and she should be, she’s fun to watch). She’ll often use the logs as a runway to try and get the other dogs to play chase. She’s not a fan of stick, but she LOVES chase. She’ll often wait and hide further up the trail so she can surprise her doggie friends and get them to chase her.
Pippa stuck near me again until everyone had burnt of a little energy. I’m still suspicious that she sticks so close so she can get extra face licks in. Beckem mingled with everyone; playing some chase, rolling around and sniffing a few trees.
It was a great hike, in part thanks to the rain. It was beautiful out there.
